memorial is located inside the Parish Church of St.Dominick, it takes
the form of a stone tablet containing the names of those who died in
both World Wars. The tablet for the First World War also contains the
names of those who served in World War One: 40 from the Navy and 77
from other forces.

St. Dominick, Liskeard, Cornwall. In the 1911 census he was aged
21, born Torpoint, Cornwall, Assisting in his Uncle's Corn Coal
and Manure Dealership, resident with his uncle at 4 Cotehele Quay,
Calstock, Cornwall. Buried in JERUSALEM WAR CEMETERY, Israel and

The Devonshire Regt., s. of the late John Grills, of
Edgcumbe House, Bore Ferrers, by his wife, Charlotte, dau. of
George Martin ; b. Torpoint, co. Cornwall, 21 June, 1889
; educ. St. Dominic's Wesleyan School, East Cornwall ; was a Fruit
Grower ; joined the Royal Devonshire Yeomanry 16 Nov. 1915 ; served
with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in Palestine from Dec. 1916
; transferred to the Devonshire Regt., and was killed in action
near Jerusalem 3 Dec. 1917. Buried at Beit-ur-el Foka, near Jerusalem.
An Officer wrote : "His loss is deeply felt, for he was very
popular. He was a splendid soldier and the best of comrades,"
and Corpl. Noxon : "He has been in my section for several
months, and I knew him very intimately, and respected him for
his cheerful willingness to do his duty or help his comrades at
all times. His body lies in the little mountain village, where
he fought so gallantly for his King and country." Unm.
