The memorial is inside the church of St Mary The Virgin, Little Sampford and takes the form of a wooden board with pediment and shelf. There are seven names listed for World War 1 and four for World War 2. The memorial was first unveiled by Major Walter Schwier in December 1924.

Son of George and Emma Andrews, of Grange Cottage, Little Sampford, Braintree, Essex. No known grave. Commemorated on ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 7.
COOTE	Arthur	Private 19541, 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment. Died in Egypt 22 February 1916. Born and resident Little Sampford, enlisted Warley. Husband of Annie May Coote, of Top Farm, Grafham, Hunts. Buried in SUEZ WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY, Egypt. Section D. Grave 21.
DRANE	John	Private 5605, 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died 1 November 1916. Aged 30. Son of Mrs. Rue Drane, of Little Bush, Little Sampford, Braintree, Essex. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 1 C and 2 A.
GOWLETT	James	Private 19514, 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment. Killed in action 1 July 1916. Aged 20. Born Great Sampford, resident Little Sampford, enlisted Saffron Walden. Son of Walter and Sarah Gowlett, of Millfield Cottage, Little Sampford, Essex. Buried in KNIGHTSBRIDGE CEMETERY, MESNIL-MARTINSART, Somme, France. Section G. Grave 7.
PHILLPOTT	George Bowyer	[Listed as George Boyer PHILLPOTT on SDGW & CWGC] Private TF/260113, 13th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. Killed in action 2 August 1917. Aged 38. Born Great Sampford, enlisted Great Bardfield. Buried in NEW IRISH FARM CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot XII. Row E. Grave 5.
RICHARDSON	Herbert Laflin	Private 35864, Essex Regiment. Enlisted 6 December 1915, discharged 3 May 1917 due to sickness. Died in the October to December Quarter 1917, death registered in Dunmow Registration District, Essex. His birth was registered at Dunmow, Essex in the July to September Quarter 1885 (Vol 4A Pg 355). In the 1891 census he is listed as the son of Alfred & Julia A Richardson, aged 5, Scholar, born Gread Bardfield, Essex, resident High Street, Bardfield Saling, Stebbing, Essex.
SUCKLING	Arthur	Lance Corporal 34157, 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment). Died 14 November 1918. Aged 22. In the 1911 census he was a son, aged 15, of William and MAry Ann Suckling, a kitchen boy, born Finchingfield, Essex, resident Little Sampford. His death is recorded as a Civil Registration at Colchester Regstration Office, Essex (Vol 4A Pg 1670). Buried in COLCHESTER CEMETERY, Essex. Plot N. Row 6. Grave 41.
