The
Sheet war memorial is to be found in the grounds of St Mary Magdalen
Chruch, Farnham Road, Sheet. It takes the form of a rough hewn, Latin
Cross standing on a square plinth and base; the World War 1 names and
inscription are inscribed on plaques on the sides of the plinth and
those for World War 2 on an additional sloping plaque fixed to the front
base. There are 20 names listed for World War 1 and 6 for World War
2. The memorial was first unveiled on 18th November 1920.

in action 1 July 1916. Born 24 May 1869. Resident Adhurst St Mary,
Peterfield, Hampshire. Half-brother of Francis H. (1872) and John
(1870). (Burke, L.G.; The Times, 11 July 1916.) Educated
Winchester School. Matriculated Trinity College, Cambridge University
Michelmas 1887 in Mathematics; B.A. 1890. 1st Puisne Judge at Mombasa.
Served as a Lieutenant in the Volunteer Company, Royal Hampshire
Regiment, during the South African (Boer) War 1899-1902; awarded
the Queens South Africa Medal with 3 clasps for Cape Coploby, Orange
Free State and Transvaal. In the Great War with the South African
Defence Force and then Captain, Hampshire Regiment. Also commemorated
on a headstone in St Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Buriton, Hampshire.
Buried in Serre Road Cemetery No. 2, Somme, France. Plot XVI. Row
