CHELSEA WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial stands at the east end of Sloane Square, Chelsea, near The Royal Court Theatre. The memorial has an octagonal base with three steps mounted on which is a two stage octagonal plinth upon which is a tapered shaft abd stone cross with an octagonal section, white stone, capped head. On the west face is a bronze sword in relief. The monies raised were by public subscription and the memorial was unveiled on 24th October 1920 by Field Marshall Sir William R Robertson; the architect was Sir Reginal Blomfield. There are no names listed for any war.
