BRYNGLAS
(NEWPORT) WW1 AND WW2 MEMORIAL
World War
1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and Copyright © Lyndon Wigmore 2008
The monument
is in the grounds of a Church, on Brynglas Hill, Newport. At first
glance it appears to be in poor condition with much of the writing
illegible. But on closer inspection, it can be seen tha the names
are inscribed and then painted over. The inscriptions themselves are
still in good condition, only the paint has faded. There are 149 names
from the First World War. The names are arranged alphabetically with
no other details.
On top
is a second plaque referring to the the casualties from the Second
World War, but giving no names.
