The Portlock war memorial stands at the junction of Dunster Steep and the A39 in Porlock, West Somerset. It takes the form of a small, floriated, cross with an octagonal shaft, a square plinth and an octagonal, four stepped, base. The names of the fallen are listed on a broad tablet mounted in front of the base. There are 24 names for World War 1 and 13 names for World War 2.

Private 12048, "B" Company, 1st Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Died 9th August 1916. Aged 44. Son of William and Jane Baker, of Minehead, Somerset. Buried in LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot VIII. Row D. Grave 7.
BEAUMONT-CHECKLAND Montmorency Beaumont
Lieutenant, 2nd/1st Battlaion, West Somerset Yeomanry attached 7th Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Killed in action 16th August 1917. Aged 33. Son of William and Amy de Beaumont Beaumont-Checkland, and grandson of the Comte de Beaumont. Enlisted 1914; volunteered for Infantry 1916. B.A., Barrister-at-Law, Inner Temple. Led up a small reinforcement to hold the line against a strong counter-attack, and fell within four miles of the Memorial. No known grave. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. [Listed as E J BINDING on memorial] Private 295417, 12th (West Somerset Yeomanry) Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Died of wounds 22nd September 1918. Aged 21. Born Spaxton, enlisted Minehead, resident Allerford. Son of Charles and Mary Ann Binding, of Porlock, Taunton. Formerly 1730, West Somerset Yeomanry. Buried in LA CHAPELETTE BRITISH AND INDIAN CEMETERY, PERONNE, Somme, France. Plot I. Row H. Grave 8.

Private 9001, 2nd Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Died in India 9th July 1918. Aged 24. Born and resident Porlock, enlisted Taunton. Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Blackmore, of 13, Council House, Porlock, Somerset. Buried in Quetta Government Cemetery. Plot XXVI. Row C. Grave 2758. Commemorated on DELHI MEMORIAL (INDIA GATE), India. Private 26040, 2/4th Battalion, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry formerly 29471, Worcestershire Regiment. Died of wounds 9th September 1917. Aged 26. Born Newton St. Gres, Devon, enlisted Minehead, resident Porlock. Son of John and Sarah Bowden; husband of Eva Bowden, of Higher Washford, Taunton. Driver T4/038941, 209th Horse Transport Company, RoyalArmy Service Corps. Died 31st December 1918. Aged 30. Nephew of Sarah Cooksey, of Porlock, Somerset. Mentioned in Despatches. Buried in MIKRA BRITISH CEMETERY, KALAMARIA, Greece. Grave 1112.
