Able Seaman 178504, Royal Navy. HMS India. Died 08/08/1915. Buried in Bodo Cemetery, Norway. HMS India was a pre-war P&O cruise liner, commandeered as an armoured merchant cruiser by the Royal Navy in 1915. On 8th August 1915 she was in the entrance of Vest Fjord, Norway when she was torpedoed by a German submarine. despite Norway's neutrality. 160 of her 301 crew were lost, with no known grave; five ratings were buried at Bodo in a collective grave. the remainder were interned in Norway for the duration of the war |

Buried at Skew Bridge Cemetery, Turkey. Lieutenant Colonel Quilter is also commemorated on the War Memorials at Bawdsey, Ramsholt and Sutton |
