of Emily Dann (formerly Fairbank, nee Prest) of Winter Hill, Sproatley,
Yorkshire, and also of 53 Errol Road, Hove, Sussex, married 6 May 1917
in St John's, Middlesbrough. Born Sproatley, enlisted Barnsley and
resident Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. In the 1911 census he was aged 25,
born Sproatley, Yorkshire, a Farmer's Son working on farm, son of
James and Mary Ann Fairbank, resident Sproatley Hull, Wyton Sproatley,
Yorkshire & Yorkshire (East Riding). His Army Service record
shows he was born in Sproatley and resident in Middlesborough when
he enlisted 1915. Attested 9 December 1915 at West Hartlepool, aged
29 years 8 months, Meat Salesman by trade, religious denomination
Church of England, height 5 feet 7½ inches, weight 126lbs,
chest 36 inches, to Army Reserve 10 December 1915, mobilised 12
July 1917, posted 13 July 1917. Embarked and posted to 6th Battalion,
Yorkshire Regiment 1 April 1918, Arrived 'F' Depot 2 April 1918,
transferred to East Yorkshire Regiment and posted to 1st battalion,
assigned new regimental number 30730, 3 April 1918. Commemorated
Soissons Memorial, France. |
