        The 
          memorial can be found on the green as you leave Northill and enter Ickwell 
          on the right. The memorial covers the whole of the parish of Northill 
          including the villages of Northill, Upper Caldecote, Lower Caldecote, 
          Ickwell, Thorncote, Hatch, Brook End, Cowpastures, Vinegar Hill and 
          Budna. The memorial is in the form of a stone cross made of portland 
          stone with a bronze sword of sacrifice mounted on the face the whole 
          monument standing on an octagonal plnth surrounded by 8 posts which 
          a hold a spiked chain link fence. There are 37 names for World War 1 
          and 7 for World War 2. The memorial waas first unveiled on 18th April 
          1920 by Colonel J Harvey. The builder was Messrs. G Maile and Sons Ltd 
          and the architect was Sir Reginald Blomfield.
