HARMAN |
Edward |
From
the TNA WO/364, his pension documents. These appear to be all that
survive. His death was a direct result of the war but occurred too
late to be classed as a war death. He
Joined up for Army service on 7 Jan 1917 and was called up at Norwich
from the Reserve on 7 March 1917 to serve as Private M/300551 Motor
Driver with the Royal Army Service Corps. He served at home until
10 Jan 1918 when he joined the BEF to France. By December 1918 (still
in France) he was diagnosed as having contracted Tuberculosis disease
in his right hip but he wasn't repatriated until 23 June 1919 when
he was admitted to a specialist TB hospital. On 19 August 1919 he
was discharged from the Army with 100% pension as permanently unfit
for service and died several months later. His death was registered
in Hammersmith and no information is avaiable as to where he was
buried, possibly Whittington where his father was living in 1911.
No headstone was recorded either there or Northwold when surveyed
by members of the Norfolk Family History Society.
Born
Edward Henry HARMAN in Northwold in 1898 he was the youngest son
of John Edward HARMAN and Sabina THOMPSON.
