CAERWENT
WW1 AND WW2 MEMORIAL
World War
1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and Copyright © Lyndon Wigmore 2008
additional information Gareth Jones
The monument
is in the centre of a road junction in the village of Caerwent. It
takes the form of an obelisk atop a plinth, all surrounded by metal
railings. On the top of the obelisk is what appears to be a lamp.
On it are recorded 18 names from the First World War and a further
8 from the Second World War. 2 of the names from the First World War
appear to have been added at a later date than the rest.
Eleven
of the names from the First World War are also commemorated on a brass
tablet in the church nearby.
