 BEDFORD,
BEDFORDSHIRE YEOMANRY WORLD WAR 1World War 1 - Roll of Honour with detailed informationCompiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2007

        The
memorial was original erected in the Bedfordshire Yeomanry (T.A) Headquarters
in Ashburnham Road, Bedford but was moved in 1967 when the Bedfordshire
Yeomanry amalgamatd with 201 Battery, Royal Artillery (T.A.). where
the headquarters were in Leagrave Road, Luton. It was decided that the
memorial should remain in Bedford as it was unique to the town and it
currently resides in the Mayor's Chambers in Old Bedford Town Hall,
St Paul's Square, Bedford. The memorial takes the form of a black, wood,
shield with a white, metal, reserve in the middle which has been engraved
with a picture of a soldier on horseback. There are twelve small metal
shields on two sides of the reserve with engraved with thenames of the
60 men from the Yeomanry who gave their lives in World War 1. The reserve
has an oak leaf and acorn foliated surround. The memorial was designed
by A R Lindley & Son and unveiled by Major. S. Green. There is also
          a searchable database
          for these men.
